How does lacrosse work?

(Excerpt from uslacrosse.org) Boy's lacrosse is a contact game played by ten players: a goalie, three defenseman, three midfielders, and three attackman. The object of the game is to shoot the ball into the opponent's goal and to keep the other team from scoring. A goal is scored when the entire ball passes the plane of the goal. It is legal to shoot, kick, or bat the ball into the net. The team scoring the most goals wins.

Each team must keep at least four players, including the goalie, on it's defensive half of the field and three in it's offensive half. Three players (midfielders) may roam the entire field. For more details visit https://thsll.org/lax101.

When is Lacrosse Season?

Regular Season Games are played from the end of January through April. GRHSLAX offers a Fall Ball program with weekend tournaments that helps prepare players for the spring season.

We encourage athletes to get involved in summer teams, clinics and camps.

Why do I have to pay?

Lacrosse is not a UIL-recognized sport in the state of Texas. For this reason, our club operates as a school club, which are self-funded. The club pays for practice and game field rentals, coaches, equipment, uniforms, officials, tournament entries and more.

Fees collected cover approximately half of the costs associated with fielding teams. All team members participate in fundraising efforts to offset the cost. Contact the VP of Fundraising to discover how you can play through fundraising only.

Will I need to volunteer?

We are family. One of the ways we keep costs down is by pitching in to help each other. There are a variety of opportunities available from concessions to statistics, and from set up to game announcers. There’s something for everyone and you might even enjoy your role. At least, that’s what we’ve heard!

How can I Join the Lacrosse Booster Club?

When enrollment is open, you can join the booster club online or in person at a variety of levels. You’ll enjoy the benefits of bundling some of our favorite offerings like season passes, team program, fan shirts, and player banners. You’ll save a bit of money by paying only once AND your members supports the lacrosse club directly.

Where does the team practice?

This season, most practices have been held at the New Territory Sports Complex.
